‘’Volunteering with Aarohi was a truly unique and authentic experience. Living and working in Peora exposed us to new traditions, foods, landscapes, languages, and celebrations. It was inspiring to work amongst a passionate team of people, dedicated to making a difference in Peora and the wider state of Uttarakhand. For example, we saw first-hand how community health projects can improve the lives of individuals, families and communities. We loved being able to engage with the local community and living in a homestay was the perfect way to do this. We are grateful for the support from Aarohi, and we will value our experience for years to come.’’
‘’I am incredibly grateful to the Aarohi and MMU team for providing me with an amazing experience. Both as a student and individual, I have experienced tremendous growth, developing resilience, learning to acclimatize, and challenging my inhibitions. My eyes have been opened to the realities of rural India, and I leave with a deeper appreciation for its culture, community, and uniqueness. The friendships I fostered and adventures we went through will remain deeply-engrained in my heart.’’
‘’ My experience with Aarohi was everything I could have asked for. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to live in the Kumaon Region of Uttarakhand for a month, surrounded by some of the most kind and welcoming people I have ever met.
Beyond conducting research, living in Satoli was an adventure in and of itself. To trekking in the mountains to attending a Kumaoni wedding, every day was its own experience, filled with its own lessons and challenges.
I want to thank Aarohi for welcoming me, a stranger, into their family. Thank you for your never-ending support and care. Most importantly, thank you for the important work that you do for the broader Kumaoni community.’’
‘’My experience in Aarohi was wonderful. I got the opportunity to work on various projects, which required talking to teachers, taking classes and working on curriculum. I am thankful to my mentor who assigned me such interesting and different assignments and kept me active and engaged. I would love to come back again to this place and hope for engaging for a long period to this organization. I am definitely going to miss this environment and people of Aarohi with whom I got to learn so much.’’
‘’Starting with the beautiful landscape and unending greenery to the down-to-earth nature of the village dwellers, there’s nothing that has failed to fascinate me. Aarohi of course is the sole reason why I visited Uttarakhand. The organization has embraced my presence and has given me the unique opportunity to work closely with people and live with them to get a deeper understanding of their lives in the mountains. Every individual has offered me adequate help and support and I wish to thank them all for their warm gesture. “
