Uttarayan.... Spirit of the Mountains, 20th January, 2013

It is for the fourth consecutive year that we brought to Delhi a glimpse of life in a Kumaoni village and how Aarohi’s work is interwoven with that life, and this time we called it ‘Tapak Wali Chai’, a narrative interspersed with a medley of folk songs and dances by the children. Vande Matram, the soulful tune to which our presentation ended, had the audience mesmerized and clapping with the beat.... emotions running high on each side. Vande Matram! We salute to our ‘Bhoomi’. The children are hopeful… of the future… hopeful of the land they live in… hopeful that their country will give them a chance to shine one day, to reach their full potential.

The Kumaoni lunch cooked and served by the Aarohi team and students was enjoyed by one and all; the bazaar selling authentic food stuff, woollens, body care products had the people thronging and asking for more; the spectacular photo display and sale attracted a lot of interest; and the internationally acclaimed film ‘Hansa’ by Manav Kaul was much appreciated by the viewers.

Our team of 56 people, out of which 33 were students from classes 7 to 12, had a wonderful day after, enjoying the grandeur of Qutub Minar, shopping in busy streets of Delhi, and the exciting time at the Worlds of Wonder, an amusement park in Noida.
